Birmingham Airport is a lot like most UK Charter based airports, holding flights to low cost airlines such as Monarch and Thomas cook. However Birmingham do have a few Turkmenistan and PIA carriers along with air india offering fantastic Photo opportunities, although photography at Birmingham is not as good as it used to be as it only has one good photo spot and only 2 spotting areas. Birmingham only has 1 Runway which is runway 15/33.
Long Stay Car parkThe car park stretches towards the taxiway and is very close to the final approach path. When R33 Is in use, it is great for aircraft taxing out and Arriving where as R15 In use is great for head on shots as the aircraft depart a couple of hundred feet over your head, however a 70-300mm lens is the best bet for this area.
To get to the Car park the following Co-ordinates should help (These may not be exact) Latitude: N52˚ 26' 44" (N52˚ 26.44') Longitude: W1˚ 44' 12" (W1˚ 44.202') __________________________________________________________________ |
Sheldon Country ParkThe park is at the end of Runway 15 and can be got to by using the A45 which is coventry Rd. This Particular spot gives great photography shots of aircraft landing on runway 15 and head on views of taxing aircraft, however when the runway is 33, this spot should be avoided if you do not have a big lens again 70-300mm is recommended.
